I enjoy that Business Studies is practical and we are often required to go out into the real world of work

Sixth Form Pupil

Business Studies helps pupils to engage in the study of business and economics to develop as effective and independent pupils who can act as critical and reflective thinkers with inquiring minds.

They will be able to distinguish between facts and opinion and build arguments and make informed judgements.  The course will develop their knowledge and understanding of contemporary issues in a range of local, national and global context and they will begin to appreciate the range of perspectives of different stakeholders in relation to the business and economic activities.  They will also learn to consider the extent to which business and economic activity can be ethical and sustainable.

Outside of the Classroom

We aim to make visits to different business locations in order to help support the units as required, particularly those assessed by coursework.  In the past we have visited Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum, Thorpe Park and The Tower of London.  We also have outside speakers to come into lessons to maintain our business links and to support the applied nature of the course.  Mr Tom Flynn from Business Solutions comes in once a week to mentor and offer guidance to our students with their course.
