WWI Battlefields Trip
From Sunday 14 to Wednesday 17 September, Miss Sutton and two Upper Sixth students traveled to the battlefields of Belgium and France to commemorate the 100th anniversary of World War One.
They were joined by a number of other local schools as part of the government's new flagship scheme to mark the centenary of the start of the First World War and give thousands of schoolchildren the opportunity to visit the Great War battlefields.
World War One study is already compulsory for children aged 11 to 14. This project - part of the Centenary Education Programme - allowed our students to learn at first hand about the sacrifices made by the troops and the personal stories of those involved in the war effort.
