Ealing Half Marathon 2024

On Sunday 29 September, over 20 members of the Vaughan Community are participating in the Ealing Half Marathon to raise awareness and vital funds for the Saint John Southworth Foundation (charity number 1121531). This is the school’s charitable arm and the funds will allow pupils to compete in extra-curricular activites.

If you would like to run on behalf of Team Vaughan and raise money for our school, please sign up here and forward your confirmation email to development@sjscat.co.uk. If you commit to raising £110 you will receive a personalised Team Vaughan X Ealing Half Marathon T-Shirt, and if you raise £220 or more you will receive the t-shirt and we will reimburse your entry fee.

Mr Brett, Head of First Form & Teacher of PE, comments: "We are delighted with the interest from the wider Cardinal Vaughan community in completing the 2024 Ealing Half Marathon. In particular, over half of our entrants participating in this wonderful event are members of the Sixth Form and we are delighted with their enthusiasm for this event which is raising much needed funds for the Saint John Southworth Foundation. The Ealing Half Marathon is always a great event in our school's calendar and we look forward to seeing as many members of our community along the route as possible."

Members of Team Vaughan have been training throughout the summer with many of the runners completing over 50km every week in preparation for this event. Furthermore, our Sixth Form pupils have been impressively juggling their training regime with revision for their September examinations. All the members of our team have enjoyed training so far, and are hopeful that it will pay off on Sunday 29 September!

This year, we have decided to have a central spectator point for any members of staff or the wider Vaughan community who may wish to cheer on the runners. The meeting point is located where Courtfield Gardens meets Argyle Road and the postcode for this area is W13 0EY. We will run past this point at both mile 6 and mile 10 so we would recommend that any spectators aim to arrive at this point by 09:30 am - there will be road closures in place so you may wish to arrive even earlier. Furthermore, you are more than welcome to bring banners and whistles to make as much noise as possible for us.
