Sunday Times Comprehensive School of the Year

We are delighted to have won two awards in this weekend’s edition of The Sunday TimesThe Sunday Times Comprehensive School of the Year and London State Secondary School of the Year.

Alastair McCall, the editor of the Parent Power supplement, said: ‘Cardinal Vaughan demonstrates every year what is possible with a comprehensive intake, outperforming many schools with highly selective admissions policies.

‘It is to be applauded that the school ensures its intake of boys at 11 is truly of mixed ability through testing them and then taking fixed numbers from each ability band, including one-quarter from the least able, opening the school up to all and not just those who live nearest the school gates.

‘The combination of academic excellence, the school’s Catholic tradition and outstanding extracurricular opportunities make Cardinal Vaughan one of the most sought after schools in the capital – with good reason.’

Mr Stubbings said: 'Such recognition is obviously a fine thing and I am so grateful to the staff, pupils, parents and Directors – and to the wider Vaughan community: you all play such an enormous part in this wonderful school’s success.'
