An Exciting Start to the Summer Holiday for Third Form Pupil Malakai

What an amazing start to the summer holidays for Vaughan pupil Malakai Bayoh. His album 'Golden' reached Number 1 in the Official Classical Albums Charts earlier this week and many of the tracks on the album feature Cardinal Vaughan's Schola Cantorum and were conducted by Mr Price, Director of Music

This week Malakai has featured in The Times, appeared on ITV News, and been a guest on the BBC Radio 4's Today programme where he was interviewed by Chris Mason (BBC Political Editor). It has also been announced that Malakai will feature on the soundtrack of Maestro, an upcoming film produced by Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg starring Bradley Cooper.

Malakai has said that whilst he is busy in the recording studio, performing at the Proms Spectacular and preparing for his tour of Japan with members of the Schola Cantorum, he is also enjoying the summer break with his family.

Mr Stubbings, Headmaster, Cardinal Vaughan Memorial School, commented: “We’re tremendously proud of Malakai’s talent, work ethic and dedication. Everyone in the Vaughan community is willing him on and we look forward greatly to seeing how his musical career develops from here.”

Congratulations to Malakai and the Schola Cantorum!
