Budding journalists launch new Lower School newspaper
Budding journalists and editors from the Lower School have been developing their writing, research, and design skills with the launch of a brand-new school newspaper this week.
The first school newspaper produced by Lower School pupils, has been developed under the expert guidance of Miss Vernon-Powell (Teacher of English). The publication offers readers well-researched, thoughtful articles from pupils, with bright and bold page design.
Miss Vernon-Powell comments: “I have been so impressed with how pupils have worked with such energy, initiative and imagination to make the newspaper as good as it is - and it has been fascinating to see what most interests our pupils and how this translates into the kind of articles they want to write. Well done to everyone involved – including the 4th Year pupils section editors who did such a great job putting the finishing touches to the edition.”
Paul Stubbings, Headmaster, adds: “Congratulations to everyone involved and thank you to Miss Vernon-Powell for all her work in making the new newspaper a reality. The writing, editing, creative and design skills that pupils develop on a project such as this are hugely important, and I look forward to many more issues to come.”
All Lower School pupils are welcome to join the editorial team, which meets every Wednesday at 1pm in Room 325.
