Cardinal Vaughan ranks high in new Oxbridge offers list
We are delighted to have been included in a new list published today (11 March) by The Spectator following the release of data from the University of Cambridge and the University of Oxford detailing how many offers they gave to pupils from schools across all sectors in 2020. Cardinal Vaughan has pride of place in the Top 100, ranking at 68, as one of only seven state comprehensives and academies to have made the top tier.
Moreover, according to the list, Cardinal Vaughan is the highest ranking Catholic school across the state and private sectors nationwide for offers to Oxford and Cambridge (excluding Sixth Form colleges). This is testament to the outstanding teaching and work ethic at Cardinal Vaughan.
CVMS Higher Education Co-ordinator Miss Davies-Evitt said of the list: 'What a joy to see CVMS make the Top 100 nationwide schools for Oxbridge offers. Pupils and teachers alike work tirelessly each year to secure offers to a wealth of universities, and to have our Oxbridge cohort recognised is further testament to such a school wide effort. It is even more commendable to be one of only seven comprehensives on the list. Every year we organise practice interviews with alumni, staff and partner schools, and we organise departmental preparation sessions and seminars with our link colleges to give our pupils the greatest chance of success. It is fantastic to see all their hard work recognised and I couldn’t be prouder of all our pupils'.
