Computer Science pupils share their passion for coding

Last week, Lower Sixth-Form Computer Science pupils visited St Joseph’s Primary School, Chelsea, part of the St John Southworth Catholic Academy Trust, to provide programming workshops as part of a brand new initiative to encourage younger pupils interested in coding.

Keoni McGowan, comments: “I’m really enjoyed going to St Joseph’s and sharing my passion for Computer Science. I hope to inspire pupils in Years 5 and 6 to consider pursuing this subject which will give them a set of important skills for life and their future careers.” Lucas Riley adds: “It’s really important to start thinking about Computer Science at an early age. If you start young, these skills can become like second nature, so I’m pleased to be involved in this rewarding partnership with St Joseph’s.”

Dr Lanigan, Assistant Head, comments: “The computing workshops offer an excellent opportunity for providing practical programming experience and for Year 5 and 6 pupils to engage with Sixth Formers studying the subject, hopefully sparking an interest that may see them begin their own Computer Science journey”.

We look forward to more partnership sharing events like this within the Saint John Southworth Catholic Academy Trust.
