GCSE Results 2024: Exceptional Achievements by Our Pupils at Cardinal Vaughan

Published Thursday 22 August 2024

We are delighted to announce the outstanding 2024 GCSE results achieved by our Year 11 pupils. This year’s cohort has excelled in their studies, achieving remarkable grades across a wide range of subjects.

This year, 57.9% of all grades attained were at 9 to 7, demonstrating the high-quality teaching and learning at Cardinal Vaughan. The Attainment 8 score (effectively an average grade taking EBacc weighting into account) is also extremely high at 6.7.

Other highlights include:

  • 37.1% of grades were 9 or 8, more than three times higher than the national average (12.1%)
  • 84.7% of boys secured GCSEs with grade 5 and above in both English and Mathematics
  • 96.8% of boys secured GCSEs with grade 4 and above in both English and Mathematics
  • Soki Furuhashi has been awarded the prestigious Arkwright Scholarship for outstanding performance in Engineering

In their first year at the Vaughan, this cohort saw unprecedented disruptions to their education with the country going into lockdown in March 2020. Despite the challenges they faced from the Covid pandemic, our Year 11s have shown resilience and adaptability to achieve these outstanding results.

Headmaster, Paul Stubbings, commented: "These outstanding results reflect the determination and hard work of our pupils, as well as the support they have received from our dedicated staff and their families. We are very proud of them all.”
