The Cardinals Shine at Blyton Park

Yesterday marked a memorable milestone for our Lower School pupils as they participated in their first race at Blyton Park with their Greenpower kit car. This is the first time that The Cardinals have driven the car outside of school and it proved to be a robust and well-engineered car that outlasted many of its competitors on the track, a testament to our pupils' hard work and guidance from the Sixth Form team and Engineering department. 

Whilst our team narrowly missed out on a top spot in the F24 race, the day at Blyton Park was not just about racing, it was about learning, collaboration, and having fun. The pupils raced well and worked as a team, embodying the school's values and setting a positive example for others. This event also highlighted the strong relationships within our school, with pupils from all years inspiring and encouraging each other.

Joanne D'S, Lower Sixth, commented: "It's great to be here with the team. At the Vaughan, there are such positive influences around you that motivate you."

Dominik G, Third Form, added: "I was really nervous at first but once you get on the track and hear the team cheering you on it's so much fun."

Thank you to Mr Corominas Tarres, Teacher of Design Technology & Engineering, Ms Hellier, Head of Design Technology, and Mr Newton, DT Technician, for their support and guidance on the Greenpower project. Thank you also to the Sixth Form team who, despite not entering the F24+ race, came out in support of their Lower School teammates. Lastly, thank you to the sponsors for our Greenpower Project, the Saint John Southworth Foundation, Kusuma Trust, Mr Eamon Hammond (Vaughan alumni), Outsider, Harrison Eidsgaard, and those who donated to the project. 

To all the pupils who participated, your teamwork, resilience, and positive attitude have made us extremely proud. You have represented our school with excellence, and your achievements in this project are just the beginning of many more successes to come.
