Vaughan pupils shine at Jack Petchey's Speak Out Challenge 2024
We’re delighted that not one but two Cardinal Vaughan pupils featured in a regional final for young public speakers. The Jack Petchey's Speak Out Challenge is an initiative launched in 2006 which aims to help students find their voices and show their capabilities to their peers and communities.
The school entered Fourth Form pupils, Toby Y and Edward S. Edward's speech was entitled 'AI: the unlikely friend' and Toby's was 'Kindess is Key'. Both performed extremely well, with Toby placing first overall.
Ms Drury, Head of Drama & Teacher of English commented: "The regional final of the Jack Petchey Speak Out Challenge was a great evening with inspiring and though-provoking speeches by pupils from schools across Westminster and Kensington & Chelsea. Toby and Edward both performed brilliantly; they were a credit to our school and should be very proud of themselves. Warmest congratulations to Toby on his first place finish."
