Giving Day 2024: One Week Later

Last Friday was the finale of our Giving Day event, and we have been overwhelmed by the continued support in the week since! In fact, we are thrilled to share that together we have raised £70,000 (plus Gift Aid) for the Love & Service Fund. These donations will help us achieve our goals in our 110th year.

Giving Day launched our CVMS CX campaign, celebrating the 110th anniversary of our foundation with a goal to raise £110,000. This campaign focuses on three key areas: maintaining our enhanced teaching efforts, restoring the chapel to its central role in the school and refurbishing the toilets.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to Giving Day by taking part in challenges, engaging with our posts on social media, and donating to the Fund. Without you, all this would not have been possible.

CVMS CX is running throughout this academic year. If you would like to find out more or discuss how you can support this campaign further, please email development@sjscat.co.uk

Giving Day 2024

Walking the Camino

Giving Day continued into half term with Second Form pupil, Adrian P-B, embarking on a personal challenge to walk the Camino from Rubiaes (Portugal) to Santiago de Compostela, covering a distance of 132 km over 7 days to raise funds for Giving Day. This was a remarkable journey of faith and determination and as a school, we are incredibly grateful to Adrian and very proud of his achievement. You can sponsor him here.

We've Raised £55,000

Here we are at the end of Giving Day, and there has been an astonishing surge since our announcement at lunch of £10,000 meaning that the current total is very wonderfully at £55,000.

The aim is to raise £110,000 for our three priorities, which are maintaining academic excellence, the refurbishment of the Chapel, and upgrading the toilets. We need to raise £110,000 to achieve this and as a result of this Giving Day, we are half way there.

Thank you all.

Giving Day Mass

At Mass today in his homily Mgr Reader reflected on Giving Day and the efforts of the pupils in supporting this.  He discussed how in doing so, they showed that they looked deep within themselves to support things they believed in and also to support others. In doing so their actions are embodying the school motto of ‘Love & Service’.  He asked them to pray and learn how to continue this both now and in later life.

Volleyball

The Staff v Pupils Volleyball match took place with great enthusiasm and camaraderie from all. Nearly 30 players were involved in the after school match, with the match going down to a fifth set decider. The staff came out victorious, winning 3-2 in sets. This fixture is now a annual event on the School's Giving Days.
