CVMS Invited to Hansard Society Lecture with Theresa May

On Tuesday 14 May, 19 Lower Sixth Form History and Politics pupils were invited by the Hansard Society to attend the inaugural Churchill-Attlee Democracy Lecture, at Methodist Central Hall, given by the Rt Hon Theresa May MP.

In a refreshingly non-partisan talk, Theresa May offered an hour of her reflections of her 27 years in Parliament, with particular focus on what reforms she believes are needed to the House of Commons and how our executive could be improved. She then took questions from the Guardian journalist Jackie Ashley.

As one of a small handful of local schools invited, the Hansard Society arranged a meet-and-greet for the pupils with the former Prime Minister afterwards. Thank you to the Hansard Society for this wonderful opportunity for our pupils. Thank you also to Mr Mooney, Head of Upper Sixth and Teacher of History & Politics, Ms Whelan, Associate Head & Head of Upper School, and Mr Hannam, Teacher of History & Politics for organising.
