London Marathon 2024: Support Team Vaughan
This Sunday, 21 April, Ms Georgiakakis, acting Head of Classics and Co-ordinator of PSHE, RSE & Careers, will be running 26.2 miles in the TCS London Marathon 2024; the last of three events in the London Classics. Ms Georgiakakis has already completed a 100-mile cycle for the Ride London, in which she came in as the 7th woman overall with a time of 4 hours 18 mins, and a 2-mile swim for the Swim Serpentine event.
Ms Georgiakakis is completing these physical challenges in partnership with Mr Brett, Head of First Form and Teacher of Physical Education to raise funds for the Vaughan Foundation. She comments: “I have greatly enjoyed training for these events and I'm thrilled to be able to combine this with fundraising for school. I'm a big believer in the power of physical activity for empowering everyone to feel more energised, motivated and happy, and I hope that Mr Brett and I will inspire pupils to continue to push themselves and take on new challenges.”
Mr Stubbings, Headmaster, adds: “It’s truly the mark of a very special school when our teachers go to such lengths to fundraise to help their pupils. Good luck to Ms Georgiakakis – and thank you.”
In addition, 60 pupils have been inspired to take part in the TCS Mini London Marathon this Saturday, 20 April. Pupils will walk, jog or run 2.6km around the centre of London and finish the mini marathon by crossing the iconic finishing line on The Mall. As well as completing this event, the runners will be raising money for our Vaughan's PE department.
So far, Team Vaughan has raised £1,200 for the Vaughan Foundation. Please consider showing your support by making a donation using the form below:
