Lower Sixth Community Service Awards
Published Friday 4 July 2025
Yesterday, the school held an assembly to award those pupils in the Lower Sixth who have taken part in community service throughout the year. This has been a remarkable year with more community service undertaken than ever before.
164 pupils, which is 85% of the year group, completed a total of 8,264 hours of service. That’s nearly a full year’s worth of time given to others. Of these pupils, 59 earned Gold Certificates and Benjamin J was recognised for the most hours this year with 402 hours.
This is a wonderful way of demonstrating The Vaughan motto, Amare et Servire. What our pupils have done truly matters and we are immensely proud that they have made the school and the wider community better.
A rarely awarded platinum Community Services award was presented to Associate Head, Miss Whelan, to recognise her 38 years of service to the school ahead of her retirement at the end of this academic year.
Thank you to every pupil who gave their time throughout this year and to our Community Service Co-ordinators, Ms Bell and Mr Mooney for their guidance and support.
