Nissan Design Europe Visit

Published Wednesday 8 January 2025

In December, 19 Lower and Upper Sixth Form pupils visited Nissan Design Europe. Nissan do not normally open their studio to visitors, and this is the first time to a school since their inauguration in 2003.

Nissan Design Europe in Paddington has been responsible for many key cars for the Japanese automotive brand, including two generations of the Qashqai, the Juke and NV200 van, plus radical concepts for Nissan.

Our pupils had the opportunity to see and experience the design process of the cars that will hit the road in 5 to 10 years, from hand sketches to CAD (Computer aided Design) and physical models made in clay.

They also had the chance to talk to professional designers in their studio environment and even got to work on a clay model that NDE prepared for our pupils to experience modelling a real car.

This was an exceptional visit for our pupils and Nissan have offered to visit our school in 2025 to see our progress on the Cardinal's Greenpower cars. Thank you to Ms Vella, Teacher of Design Technology and Mr Corominas Tarres, Teacher of Design Technology & Engineering for organising this incredible trip!
