Radio Maria Competition

Mike A and Pawel J were awarded first and second place respectively in the Radio Maria England nationwide competition, which was held  last term. This is a monumental achievement.

The competition was a spoken-word event centred on Christian unity. Pupils received a trophy and a prize, and recorded their poems for future broadcast on the radio station.

Enjoy their pieces below:

 We Become what we Behold.

In our hearts, a whisper starts.
It is the Lord, piercing with His Word.
A call to unity, deeply stirred.

In a communion of sinners, we all divide.
Do we see Christ in each other’s eyes?

But hope remains, a flickering light.
To build a bridge between the gap,
To make the wrongs right.

Through unwavering love, a path unfolds,
To heal the world and break the cycle.
We become what we behold.

 A Prayer for Christian Unity.

God,
People are scattered everywhere.
Some sit in pews,
others stand,
some wave their hands too much.

We say we follow you,
but mostly we follow our own maps.
The churches feel like puzzle pieces
that don't actually fit.

Please, make us stop bumping into each other.
Or at least
help us share the same table
Without spilling the cups.

Amen.

- Pawel J
