Record Breaking Results in the Chemistry Olympiad
In March, twenty-eight Sixth Form pupils took part in round one of the Royal Society of Chemistry's UK Chemistry Olympiad, a leading chemistry competition for secondary students. This year saw the Vaughan's highest number of entries and the school's best results in a decade!
Congratulations to all the Sixth Form pupils who took part in this true, university-level challenge, particularly the Lower Sixth pupils. This is a significant achievement in a competition designed for Year 13. Well done to Alice K, Upper Sixth, and Augustin O, Lower Sixth who achieved a 'Gold' award.
In addition, twenty Lower Sixth Form pupils (pictured below), took the Cambridge Chemistry Challenge last Friday. The pupils who perform best across the country will win an invitation to a residential camp at the University of Cambridge at the end of August.
Thank you to Ms McGrath, Teacher of Science, for supporting our budding scientists and giving them access to enrichment programmes that extend beyond the syllabus and encourage them to think about science in the way they would at university. Best of luck to all!
