The Cardinal Vaughan Memorial School Celebrates Culture Week

Published Tuesday 20 May 2025

Last week, The Cardinal Vaughan Memorial School proudly hosted Culture Week, an initiative led by our Lower Sixth Form pupils to celebrate the diverse cultures within our community.

A central aspect of the week was the incorporation of our Catholic ethos, with prayers offered in 56 different languages, demonstrating the unity of faith across cultures. In addition, a variety of competitions, crafts, and cultural activities took place throughout lunch and break times, fostering engagement and appreciation of global traditions.

A highlight of the week was the International Food Stall. Thank you to those families who generously donated international snacks and baked goods for our Lower Sixth Form pupils to sell at break time.

On Friday pupils dressed in attire reflecting their cultural identity, whether through traditional dress, national colours, or international sports kits. Below are some highlights from the day.

This initiative also served as a fundraiser for Aid to the Church in Need. We are very pleased to share that our Lower Sixth have raised over £1,200 for this charity!

Well done to the Lower Sixth Form pupils who have organised and run Culture Week. It has been a wonderful way for us to celebrate the diversity in our community. Thank you also to the staff and Vaughan families who have supported this initiative.
