Sign Language Week 2025

This year, Sign Language Week (SLW) is taking place from 17 - 23 March 2025. SLW is a flagship awareness week for British Sign Language and Irish Sign Language, celebrated every year in March to commemorate the first time BSL was acknowledged as a language in its own right by the UK Government, on 18 March 2003.

The British Deaf Association has prepared a free, pre-recorded lesson which will help pupils learn key signs and raise awareness of Deaf culture. Click here to sign up. 

Each day throughout Sign Language Week, we will be sharing key BSL signs which you can find below. We hope you will learn something new this week.
